When my university got added to the Facebook network, the only other people on the social networking site were other current college students. Then things got a little more inclusive; college alumni and certain business networks were allowed to join, as well as high school students. Then came the inevitable: anyone could join without a network. This included your mom.
Now, friending your friends' moms isn't a huge deal, necessarily. It's when your mom friends you that things get ugly. Suddenly you're doing a quick edit of your interests and quotes, as well as the drunken party pics where you "don't look that drunk." I have a great relationship with my mom, but she doesn't need to see the words "spooning" or "beer pong with mixed drinks" on anything associated with moi.
This parody, entitled "My Mom's On Facebook", features a hair metal bad decrying the pitfalls of the day in age when mothers everywhere can join Facebook. Those into classic rock from the '70's and '80's will enjoy the variety of mini-parodies inspired by videos from different artists of the genre.

WEBSITE: Failbooking
If I had to list my top ten pet peeves, I'm fairly confident at least four of them would involve something people do on facebook. Talking about the inane thing they did or did not have for breakfast, leaving an ominously fatalistic status about their day, and joining lame pointless groups like "People who have counted the hairs on their knuckles" all irritate me. But above all, I can not stand a bad speller. I can tolerate text-speak but if you are going for an actual word that normal 4th graders can spell, you need to get it right!
Brought to you by the fine folks over at the previously ZONINO!ed Failblog, comes the head-shakingly true its sad and funny Failbooking. The site documents embarrassing, bizarre, and straight up stupid things posted on the social networking site. The great thing is that, unlike the original Failblog, these gaffes (or ignorant fouls) need no taglines, quips, or captions to point out how badly they fail.
Enjoy, but remember you probably have an acquaintance or two in your "friend list" this dumb. So, definitely keep an eye out the next time they act like a fool and send it in!

YOUTUBE: Facebook Manners And You
Inspired by the black and white newsreels of the 1950's, this parody, entitled Facebook Manners and You, allows Alice and Timmy to show us all the proper etiquette for being in a relationship on Facebook, "the electronic friendship generator."
After coming home and checking her "computing machine," Alice discovers her boyfriend, Timmy, isn't the guy she thought he was. Between changing relationships statuses with telling the other person, posting embarrassing photos, and becoming friends with all of you significant other's friends (in this case everyone from Sandra Dee and June Cleever to Doreen Sanderson and Elly May Clampett), Alice and Timmy show us how to not make some potentially horrible relationship mistakes!
Some of the best advice comes from the narrator though: No one is going to date you if you get frown lines, Alice! I mean, really, who would want "to be pals with a 'grodey-jody' like Timmy" anyways?!?

YOUTUBE: "Facebook Match"
A couple of years ago I was forwarded this parody and then recently I randomly received it again. Although the good people at Facebook have no doubt changed the formatting of their site numerous times since this was made, it's still pretty relevant.
This video parodies the relationship status feature of the social networking site under the guise of one of those Match.com television ads. It also pokes fun at the "groups" one can join and the ridiculous idea of "poking." Of course I'm guilty of all these, including the fake marriage, it's still good for a laugh. Even if it is at yourself.
