I've had Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" stuck in my head for what seems to be an eternity. It'll go away, only to come back at the least opportune time - like on a run or while riding the bus when I have no other music options to distract me. Maybe its because it is written in one of the keys that good pop songs come in since "all the greatest hits...just use four chords."

This according to Australian musical comedy trio The Axis of Awesome. Their routine 4-Chord Song will affirm this idea. Using just four chords the group rapidly moves through close to 40 pop hits spanning a large number of years. Everything from classic rock band Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" to current hip-hop group 3OH!3's "Don't Trust Me" are represented. The only acts that might be a little obscure are the Australian musicians who are relatively unknown outside of the continent down under like Missy Higgins and Kasey Chambers (although Aussie Natalie Imbruglia's hit "Torn" makes a recognizable appearance.

Need a pinch of inspiration to get you through the week? How about a whole heaping pile of it? Australian Nick Vujicic was born with no appendages, save for his "little chicken drumstick" where a leg should be. He is now a motivational speaker encouraging people to be thankful, positive, and happy. His No Arms, No Legs, No Worries campaign is inspiring for anyone. Watch and realize that making it through a dreary Monday is no big deal!

MUSIC: "Take Me On The Floor"

I love it when I'm out at a party somewhere - heck, sometimes in a Target store truth be known - and I hear a song I suddenly can't live without. I was at a bar with a couple friends last weekend when I was hypnotically dragged to the dance floor by this amazing electro-pop gem by TheVeronicas called "Take Me On The Dance Floor."

I'm not generally a fan of anything closely resembling a techno beat, but the Australian duo has crafted something special here. Lyrics that are borderline trashy with a rhythm that makes it okay to say "what? I like the beat" as you shake it all over, under the disco ball lights. Needless to say, I downloaded this one the second I got home and have pretty much set it on repeat ever since. Dance party to go with your morning shower? Yes, please!
